Week 9 || Lecture

Bonjour peeps! 🌤
In today's lecture, we were introduced to the role of evaluation and usability testing. Evaluation is required to determine whether users are satisfied with the system or not, and how well will the system fits the physical, social and organizational context. Evaluation concerns about gathering data for usability of a design/product. Evaluation can be in different forms but it is crucial to consider the following:-
1. Characteristics of users who take part in the evaluation.
2. Types of activities that the users will do.
3. The environment of the study, can be from a controlled laboratory situation to a natural work setting.
4. The nature of artefact being evaluated. It can be a series of sketches, usable prototype or fully developed product/system.
What is the actual goal of evaluation?
Simply, to find out what users want and what problems they faced.
As for usability testing, it can be defined as an effort to ascertain (make sure of) the degree to which software has met the usability needs of its intended user base. Note that usability is hard to evaluate or to measure. The factors to evaluate are as below:-
1. Time to learn the task
2. Speed of performance
3. Rate of errors (by users)
4. Retention over time
5. Subjective satisfaction (Do they like it?..)

For today's class activity, Madam Siti Rokhmah asked us to come out with samples of questions to be asked to the users. Below are the pictures of the outcomes.
